2020/12/24 10:23:26

When you remove a carpet or tiles from your concrete floor, some adhesive is always left behind. And removing flooring adhesive from a concrete floor can be a hard work especially if it’s there from many days. How can we remove adhesive on concrete floor the right way? What are the best way to remove all this mess? Here we present cheap 5 ways to remove flooring adhesive or the glue from your wood floors off of your concrete floor & scrape off glue on concrete.

Best Ways To Remove Adhesive On Concrete Floor & Scrape Off Glue

1.Use a flooring chisel to remove adhesive

The first way to remove adhesive from a concrete floor is with a flooring chisel, this is best on small amounts of adhesive or even thinset that are left behind when you remove old flooring. The end is pretty sharp and it has a protective guard on the other side for when you need to use a hammer to chisel out little bits of the flooring that are left behind. This tool is great for small jobs and chiseling out wood.

2.Use an oscillating tool to remove adhesive

The second way to remove the flooring adhesive from concrete is with an oscillating tool. The oscillating tool is using a scraper attachment or scraping attachment, so it is great for scraping off the adhesive or thinset. But even this oscillating tool can be quite a bit of work for a larger job, for some reason, the adhesive on the floors may still be sticking to the self leveler that is poured on the floor better than it actually sticks to the concrete pad itself. So if you can see the dark gray areas that is the original concrete pad and all of the light gray is the self leveler and the adhesive is really sticking to that. So that comes to the third method.

3.Use flooring adhesive stripper to remove adhesive on concrete

The third method to remove the glue from the concrete floors is actually a flooring stripper. You can find flooring adhesive stripper at any of your local hardware stores or on amazon. The stripper has almost no odor, so it's great you can use it in a house that you're living in and it won't bother you. You can leave it overnight and let it work on that adhesive. So all you need to to is just follow the instructions, wear gloves to protect your hands and safety glasses to protect your eyes in case a little bit might splash up. So you want to be cautious and follow the directions. After that soaked for a day, you are able to use that flooring stripper or that chisel again to scrap up all of the gummy adhesive that was made from that stripper. So some of these spots need two coats of the stripper. So scrape off the top layer and the bit that was left.

All three of these concrete floor adhesive removing methods do require labor, nothing's going to make it super easy to get adhesive off of concrete.

4.Use a heavy duty floor stripper or standing floor scraper

The fourth option is to rent a heavy duty floor stripper to remove the adhesive from the concrete for big rooms. It can get that adhesive off your concrete faster than the first 3 methods. The floor stripper showed here is over 130 pounds it's about 40 inches high so you are going to have to take that into account when you're trying to figure out how you're going to get it. Home depot charges between 60 and 70 dollars to rent this thing for 4 hours, so you're going to need to take that into account too and you're probably going to have to pay for a blade to use on it, because it will dull over time. So they make each user buy a new blade a bonus.

5.Use a stand-up floor scraper

The fifth method to remove glue from concrete floor is to use a stand-up version of manual floor scraper that some contractors prefer. So it might save your back a little when you have small amounts of adhesive to get off of a concrete floor. Unless your adhesive, flooring, or tiles pop off pretty easily, those stand up floor scrapers take a lot of muscle and hard work on tough jobs.

Hope these methods help you figure out how to get the adhesive off of your concrete floor!
