How To Cut Marble & Granite Tiles | Stone Tile Straight & Round Cut Guide
2022/6/29 15:55:04

In any Mosaic work, there will be a time when you have to cut the tiles so that they fit on the edge of your installation area or around obstacles in the middle of your installation area. For tile materials, such as granite tiles and marble tiles, ordinary tile cutting machines will not work because these stone tiles will not damage the tiles in the same way. To cut these stone tiles, you need a special saw with a hardened blade and a cooling system.

Steps To Cut Marble And Granite Tiles

Straight Cuts

Measure and mark the cut on the tile surface with a pencil. Just determine the line that can be cut.

Place the wet diamond panel saw in front and the tile line directly in front of the saw blade.

put on your glasses and open the wet saw.

Place marble or granite tiles on wet saw blades. Don't force the tiles - just move on and let the saw do the job.

If you cut the tiles all the way, please push the tiles off the saw; Otherwise, once you cut the pencil line, stop sawing and pull out the tiles. Repeat this process for each cut in the tile.

Rubbing stones along the cut edges of the tiles. This hides them slightly because their edges are very sharp.

Round Cuts

Mark the rounded cut you want to make in the marble or granite tile, using a pencil.

Lay the tile on the table from your wet saw. Lay the tile so that the ridge of the pencil arch on the shingle is flush with the saw.

Spin the saw, put on your goggles and push the tile onto the blade. Once they have cut through the tile, the pencil arch will now crest at the end of the shingle, leaving two large sections - each with half the arch - that still need to be trimmed. Reposition the tile so that the puck is aligned with the shield on one of the middle arches. Cut the tile along this line and then do the same for the other half arch. Continue to cut pieces of tile until only 1/2-inch pieces of tile remain on the cut side of the arch.

Place the nose of your tile nippers against the pieces you still need to cut away from the tile. Pull on the handles of the pliers to release it from the tile. Using tweezers on granite or marble will be difficult, but you can do it. These cuts will be rough, but this is all right if the edge of the tile is hidden, such as under a toilet or other fixture.

RUB the cut end of the tile with a sharpening stone to dull any sharp edges.
